Aims
and Objectives Of (SONAD)
AIMS OF SONAD ARE:-
1- To apply for and maintain
Ordinary membership with the world federation of the deaf.
2- To unite all the Deaf people in Somalia
into one single nationwide organization called "Somali
National Association of the Deaf."
3- SONAD shall also
cooprerate with all the Ordinary member of the world Federation of the
Deaf Regional Secretariats especially WFD-RSESA.
4- In Accordance with the aims and objectives of the
World Fedaration of the Deaf SONAD Develops its
activities the goal of equalization of opportunities and full
participation in society by Deaf individuals.
5- SONAD shall always follow the
policies and aims of the WFD to ensure that Deaf
people in Somalia have the right to preserve their own sign languages,
Organizations and cultural and other activities.
The Objectives of SONAD are:-
1- To promote the unfification of national associations, federations
and other organizations of and for Deaf people within and without
Somalia.
2- To ensure that the Transitional Federal Government of Somali
Republic observes all international declarations and recommendations
on human rights and the rights of Deaf people and people with
disabilities.
3- To promote the creation and development of organizations of Deaf
people in all regions of Somalia and to providing services to Deaf
people where such organizations do not exist.
4- To organizte and stimulate the exchange of information and
experiences among organizations of and for Deaf people and
professionals specializing in the study of deafness.
5- To teach hearing people Somali Sign Language.
6- To promote the coordination and conduct of research and studies in
all fields of deafness, including other categories of hearing loss.
7- To facilatate the efforts of Deaf people to make contributions to
cultural enrichment in Somalia.
